Q: What's the difference between Special and Premium?
A: Put simply, there is no difference!
The reason our 'special' mats cost less is that as a manufacturer we are able to select a small range of popular colours and produce them in huge quantities, thus bringing the overall price down. This saving can then be passed on to you. Thanks to our low-cost latex backing, we have the industry's cheapest range of Dirt-Trapper mats - as effective as the premium range, yet economically produced to keep costs down.
Q: How do I clean my Dirt-Trapper mat?
A: Simply shake off any loose contaminants then fold your mat a couple of times, so the fabric side is facing outwards, and pop it into your washing machine, setting the wash temperature at 30 or 40 degrees centigrade. Do not use fabric conditioner, as this will counter-act the cotton's natural ability to absorb moisture when dry. Tumble-dry on a medium heat setting (low heat setting in the case of latex backed mats) or hang outside to dry.
Q: Can I tumble-dry my Dirt-Trapper mat?
A: Yes, Dirt-Trapper mats are designed to be repeatedly washed and tumble-dried - just set the temperature to a medium heat setting. We advise you to tumble dry your mat separately from any regular laundry you may have. To minimise the possibility of shrinkage, latex backed mats should be tumbled on the lowest heat setting.
Q: How thick are Dirt-Trapper mats?
A: Our mats are 7mm (1/4") thick - if you can fit your little finger in the gap between your door and the floor then your Dirt-Trapper mat should fit no-problem.
Q: Why the 5-year guarantee?
A: Dirt-Trapper mats, unlike cheap disposable mats, are designed to be washed and dried repeatedly and maintain an as-new appearance for many years. We have so much confidence in this superior product that we are happy to offer a 5-year guarantee against defects whilst washing and drying.
Q: Will the mats moult or shed fibres?
A: No, our mats do not moult; however, during manufacture they may pick up loose fibres during the tufting and trimming processes. We advise you to wash and tumble-dry your Dirt-Trapper mat thoroughly before use to remove any loose fibres that may be present. This will also activate the cotton within your mat and improve its moisture absorbent effectiveness. Please remember to check and clear the lint traps on any appliance before and after you wash a cotton mat.
Q: Can I cut my mat to shape?
A: Yes you can cut your mat, but please be advised that you do so entirely at your own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for any incidents that may occur as a result of the mat being cut or trimmed and, consequently, you will lose your right to claim against the guarantee.
We advise that you make a paper template first so you can be sure the shape is correct before you cut your mat. A short wash and tumble-dry should remove any loose fibres created during the cut. Please note that intricate shapes may increase the likelihood of the mat becoming damaged or torn during the wash cycle.
Q: Will the mats leave marks on my floor?
A: No, our mats do not leave marks; they have been developed through years of expertise alongside professional laundry services and are designed to be used on many floor types without leaving any marks. Please check your mat is not dirty prior to placement. If your mat has picked up dirt from another location and has not been thoroughly cleaned, it may transfer debris and mark your floor.
It is also fair to mention that any mat, Dirt-Trapper or otherwise, when positioned for long periods of time in direct sunlight may result in your floor becoming unevenly "sun-bleached". The unaffected area below the mat will be visible when the mat is no longer used.
